Setling Support
Setling helps you get started with strength training at the gym: a simple full-body plan, step-by-step help at every machine, and small steps forward, each with a clear reason. It is free, with no ads, no in-app purchases and no subscriptions. Below you’ll find answers to common questions. If yours isn’t covered, email us at emrecoskuninfo@gmail.com.

- For people aged 16 and over.
Getting started
Do I need to create an account?
No. There is no sign-up and no login. Setling uses the iCloud account that is already on your iPhone, only for syncing and Family, and it also works without iCloud.
Does Setling cost anything?
No. Setling is free, with no ads, no in-app purchases and no subscriptions.
I’ve never trained at a gym. Is Setling for me?
Yes, it is made for beginners. Your plan starts with a learning phase: light weights, 2 sets per exercise and time to learn each movement. For every exercise, Setling takes you through four steps: Find it, Set up, How to and Do it.
My gym is small, or I only have dumbbells.
During setup, choose Big gym, Small gym or Dumbbells only, then tick what your gym really has. Your plan only uses what you have. You can change this later in Profile → Gym equipment.
How do I change my answers, training days or goal?
Go to Profile. You can edit About you (name, age, height & weight, experience, daily activity and goal), Days & times, Gym equipment, and Health & limitations. Your plan adjusts to the changes.
During a workout
I only have 30 minutes today.
When you start a workout, Setling asks, “How much time do you have today?” Choose 30, 45, 60, 75 or 90 minutes. Setling trims the session to fit and tells you what it left out.
I can’t find the machine, or it’s busy.
The Find it step shows a drawing of the machine and describes what it looks like and where it usually is. If it’s taken or you can’t find it, tap “Busy or can’t find it?” to see alternatives.
How does Setling choose my starting weight?
The first time you use a machine, the starting weight finder helps you. You start light, do one set of 10 reps, and answer how many more good reps you could have done. Setling only steps up if it was clearly easy, and it takes at most 3 tries. It never guesses a weight from your body weight or height. If you’re in doubt, choose the lighter weight.
How do I log a set?
Adjust the reps with + and −, then tap how it felt: Too easy, Good, Too hard or It hurt. Setling uses your answers to suggest what comes next.
I logged a set wrong.
Tap the undo arrow at the top of the workout screen right after logging, or tap a finished set on the exercise screen to correct it. This works during the workout; finished workouts can’t be edited.
I missed a workout. Do I have to catch up?
No. There’s no need to catch up: the same workout comes next time.
When do the weights go up?
After a workout, Setling may suggest a small step, such as more weight, an extra set, a longer hold or a slightly lighter weight, and explains why. If an exercise hurt two times in a row, it suggests trying a different exercise for similar muscles. You decide whether to accept each suggestion. The weekly check-in, which takes about a minute, can also schedule a lighter week or pause weight increases when your body needs more rest.
How do I turn off the rest timer on my Lock Screen?
Between sets, a rest timer counts down (you can add 15 seconds or skip it). A Live Activity shows your exercise, set and rest countdown on the Lock Screen and in the Dynamic Island. To turn it off, go to Settings → Apps → Setling → Live Activities.
Pain and your health
Something hurts during a workout. What should I do?
Tap “Something hurts”. Setling asks a few quick questions and then suggests continuing with care, switching to an easier exercise, or stopping. It also tells you when it’s worth seeing a doctor or physical therapist.
What if it feels like an emergency?
If you have chest pain, severe shortness of breath, feel faint, or suddenly feel weak or numb, stop exercising and get help right away. Call your local emergency number (for example 112 in the EU and Türkiye, or 911 in the US).
Is Setling medical advice?
No. Setling gives general exercise guidance. It is not a medical device and can’t examine you. If you’re unsure whether exercise is right for you, please check with your doctor first.
I’d rather not track my body weight.
Turn on “Don’t ask about my weight” in Profile. This hides weigh-ins and weight trends. You can turn it off again at any time.
Apple Watch and Apple Health
How do I use Setling on Apple Watch?
First set up your plan in Setling on your iPhone. After that, you can start workouts right from your Watch, even without your iPhone nearby. Choose your minutes with the Digital Crown, see the exercise, set, target and weight, enter your reps with the Crown, and tap one of four big buttons for how the set felt. You’ll feel a tap on your wrist when rest is over, and you can pause, undo, skip or end the workout. Everything syncs with your iPhone, and a workout you started on your iPhone continues on your Watch.
Setling isn’t on my Apple Watch.
Open the Watch app on your iPhone, scroll down to Available Apps and tap Install next to Setling.
Why don’t I see my heart rate, or my workouts in Apple Health?
Setling needs your permission for this. Go to Settings → Privacy & Security → Health → Setling and allow Workouts and Heart Rate. Your heart rate then shows live on your Apple Watch during workouts, and every workout you finish with Setling is saved to Apple Health as strength training.
iCloud, new iPhone and Family
My plan and workouts aren’t syncing.
Check that you’re signed in to iCloud with the same Apple Account on your devices, that iCloud is turned on for Setling in your iCloud settings, and that you’re online. Health answers, pain reports, check-ins, body weight and height never sync through iCloud, by design: they stay on your devices.
I got a new iPhone. Will my data come with me?
If you restore a backup of your old iPhone or transfer directly from it, everything comes with you. If you only sign in with the same Apple Account, your plan, settings and workout history come back from iCloud — but Setling doesn’t sync your health answers, body weight or height through iCloud. In that case Setling asks you to go through setup once on the new iPhone; your workout history and weights stay.
What is Family, and what do other members see?
Family is for people who go to the same gym, for example a household. Each person keeps their own private plan. In Setling, members see the family name, first names and, if someone shares it, the gym’s equipment list, so not everyone has to check off the machines one by one. An invitation also shows the Apple Account name of the person who created the family (“Invited by …”). Plans, workouts, weights and health data are never shared. As with any iCloud sharing, Apple may also show participants the name and contact details (such as an email address or phone number) linked to each person’s Apple Account. Family needs iCloud on every member’s iPhone, and a family can have up to 6 members.
How do I create a family or invite someone?
Go to Profile → Family → Create a family. Then tap Invite or remove people and send the invitation with Messages, Mail or another app. Only people you invite can join. The person you invite needs Setling on their iPhone.
How do I leave a family?
Go to Profile → Family → Leave family. If you created the family, the button is Close family, which closes it for everyone. The creator can also remove members. Everyone keeps their own plan and history.
Reminders and settings
How do workout reminders work?
If you turn them on, Setling reminds you 15 minutes before a planned session. From the notification you can tap Start, In 10 minutes or Skip today. Turn reminders on or off in Profile → Workout reminders. If none arrive, check Settings → Notifications → Setling.
Can I use kilograms or pounds?
Yes. Choose metric or imperial in Profile → Units.
How do I change the language?
In Profile → Language, choose English, German (Deutsch) or Turkish (Türkçe).
Does Setling support accessibility features?
Yes. Setling supports Dynamic Type (larger text), VoiceOver and Dark Mode. If something doesn’t work well for you, please let us know.
Your data and privacy
Where is my data stored? Can the developer see it?
Your plan and workouts are stored on your iPhone and in your own iCloud account. Health answers, pain reports, check-ins, body weight and height are stored on your iPhone and are never uploaded to iCloud by Setling; they are only part of your device backup if you use one. Your Apple Watch doesn’t get your health answers, check-ins, body weight or height. It gets your plan from your iPhone, and the plan can include notes based on your answers, such as precautions or exercises to leave out. The Watch has its own short pain check. When you train with your Watch, the sets and pain reports you log on either device are shared between your iPhone and Watch. The developer has no server and can’t see any of it. There are no ads, no tracking and no third-party SDKs. You’ll find the details in our Privacy Policy, which you can also read in the app.
How do I get a copy of my data?
Go to Profile → Your data → Export my data, then tap Share export file. You get a JSON file with your training and health data: your profile, plan and workout history, plus your health answers, pain reports, check-ins and body weight. Machine photos and your family details (family name, first names and the shared gym list) aren’t included. Please keep the file somewhere secure.
How do I delete my data?
Go to Profile → Your data → Delete all my data, then confirm with Delete everything. This deletes your Setling data on your iPhone and in your iCloud, and removes you from your family (if you created the family, it is closed for everyone). Your Apple Watch is cleared the next time it connects to your iPhone. Other devices that sync Setling with the same iCloud account also delete their Setling data, including the health answers on them, the next time they sync. If iCloud can’t be reached, Setling finishes deleting your iCloud copy and leaving your family the next time you open it while iCloud is available and you’re signed in to the same Apple Account, so keep the app installed until then. It can’t be undone, so export your data first if you want a copy. Workouts already saved in Apple Health stay there, and you can delete them in the Health app.
